Mama Guilt Monday

Mama Guilt Mondays

My mama guilt today ...

Fuzzy has been sick for three weeks. Runny nose, cough, slight congestion, slight fever. Nothing to get us overly worried. He's cutting four teeth, his canines, so I thought a lot of the crankiness and drooling was due in part to that.

I wanted to take him in a week ago. I decided to wait. "It isn't that bad. And, they'll send me home to 'wait it out' anyway." I finally decided to take him to the doctor when his coughing fits were waking him up from sleep and naps.

His fever was 104. Both his ears had "raging" infections. His lungs had pneumonia.

I started to cry. The doctor said, "You either get here too early for us to know what it is, or too late and they're super sick. You'll never make it on time. Don't worry about it."

I'm not so much worried as ... the guilt is eating me alive.

  1. Oh Mama, I am not a Mother yet myself, but I have some close girlfriends who have gone through the same thing, I've seen this happen to the best of them. Just do your best to take are of Fuzzy now and be the GOOD mom you know you are! :)

  2. Been there! My oldest had bronchiolitis several times, and the first time, by the time we took him in he couldn't crawl because he felt so miserable. In my defense, he suddenly got much worse when we got to the doctor's, but I still felt horrible.

  3. Don't be so hard on yourself. You handled things quite well. You kept an eye on him and 'doctored' him with your instincts. You did great. When he needed more, you took him in for a checkup and got him the 'more' help that was needed. You didn't ignore his symptoms. You're doing a great job, Mama. Keep up the good work!

  4. I feel you SO much on this one. I hate taking them in...I feel like an idiot when it is nothing, or a terrible mom when, like last week, my son woke up with puss pouring out of his ear because he had such a bad infection. Yeah. Mom of the year award went out the window with that one.

  5. Oh, we do the best we can, right! I'm sure that was tough to hear, but at least they figured out was wrong now. I hope your little guy is feeling better and resting better now.

Thanks for linking up and sharing YOUR story!
